Two communities in our area, Leon Valley and Balcones Heights, have refused to remove their cameras from the roads, despite a 2019 ban on new installations. This has left many drivers feeling frustrated and misled.

Jason Campbell, who received a ticket from Balcones Heights, expressed his anger when he first saw the fine. 'I was very angry because this is misleading,' he said. Unpaid tickets can be reported to a collection agency, but they are not authorized to be reported to a credit bureau. However, drivers like Campbell feel that the cities should still take down the cameras and stop issuing fines.

In other news, the San Antonio City Council has approved an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to fund upgrades for seven traffic signals at key intersections around the city. The project is expected to begin next year and will not be completed until 2023. The city will cover 10% of the cost, while TxDOT will provide grants covering 90% of the expenses.

The upgrades are expected to improve traffic flow and safety, as residents have expressed concerns about accidents and congestion at these intersections. Stephen Verastegui, manager of Robert's Flower Shop on Castroville Road, said that drivers often have to wait several lights to make it through the intersection, while others may have to navigate around the area using alternative routes.

The San Antonio City Council has also approved similar improvements earlier this year. With over $2 million allocated for the project, residents hope that the changes will bring relief from traffic congestion and reduce the number of accidents in the area.
